Finally time to get rid of the stock exhaust on my truck. I've already got a header- what size pipe is good for a 22r? What mufflers do you guys like? mostly offroad, but I don't want it to be excessively loud. Motor has a cam and weber 38

2.25" all theway from the header to the muffler. I have a Borla but I like Flowmasters the best.

I went with a Flowmaster (little pricey, and i can't remember what model flowmaster though) and love it.

Aero Exhaust. Theyre super tuff and have lifetime warranties. I run the 2525L on my Yota and 2525 on my Dodge. My brothers have them on their Jeeps. The website is: www.aeroexhaust.com

I second the 2 1/4", when I bought my truck it had 2 1/2" and now with 2 1/4" it has more power.

I also run 2.25" from the downpipe to the muffler, then it goes to 2.5 out the back. I had them put in a 14" magnaflow and it sounds pretty good, but it is a little louder than what I was looking for. The bigger exit pipe is to give it a deeper tone and it does. I wish I would have gone ahead and run 3" out the back. Deeper is better.

It doesn't bother me though and as a matter of fact I have grown to like it. I ride with the windows down all the time now to listen to it. ;)

I also ditched the cat in my system when I had it done. The exhaust is a little smelly but not too bad. I figured that after 200k it would have been clogged all to hell but it was in surprisingly good shape. I saved it in case I ever get busted. :D

Doing the exhaust made a bigger difference performance wise than anything else I did to the truck. I paid the muffler shop $130 for all of it including the muffler. I'd say that was money well spent.

Can I put in a vote for the Autozone "Cherry Bomb" without being made fun of??? it's under $20 sounds deep and throaty for my 22RE, without being overly loud, and has a lifetime warranty. I also found a magnaflow highflow cat on ebay for around $58. I still need the headers though... :frown:
