Ok, I just got my 4Runner back from the emissions place with a total failure :(
HC's are way too high.
What engine sensors and controls should I check/replace to fix this Rich condition?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Change the oil, check O2 sensors, MAF, timing and make sure the thermostat is working properly. If it didn't fail by much run a higher octane fuel and take it on a nice drive about 15-20 miles on the freeway and get it nice and hot and then re-test.
i used rubbing alcohol it makes it burn hot and burn the inpurities but some people say it dries out your rubber bushings and gaskets.
or octane booster will make it run nice and hot

The HC's are 4x the allowable PPM. Alcohol in the fuel wont bring it down enough.
Something must be really wrong with my fuel management. What engine sensors effect fuel metering?
Where's the best place to get parts?
Thanks!

O2 sensors and MAF, if they were faulty the engine light would most likely be on. You might want to have the catalletic converter replaced.

What year and engine size is it. It could be EGR related.

Ah, how could I forget! :spanka:
When i picked up the truck, it had NO exhaust. I put on a brand new Magnaflow Cat and muffler.
I'm going to laugh if it costs me $500 to get this $350 truck running right! :1shifty:
