My 94 Yota 4X4 with a 22Re shows no check engine light. I can ground out "W" on the check connector to the body and the light will come on. The manual says a ground or fried computer. Any ideas where the actual ground is for the check connector(mounted on underhood fuse panel) ?
The truck will not start.I have fuel to the fuel rail but evidently not activating injectors. I have spark and the timing is set.All fuses are good.
Help.
When you turn the key to the on position but not cranking does the light come on? Did you buy the truck not running or did it just quit on you?

The light will not come on when the key is in the on position. The truck was not running when I bought it. I have had to replace fuses and relays.I believe the boys may have tried to jump it backwards.that is the only explanation I have for the blown fuses and relays.
The light will only come on when you jump 'W' terminal to a body ground(per FSM). The FSM points to the ECU or a faulty ground.
I have fuel to the fuel rail and plenty of spark.

no offense, but are you doing it right? I thought you only shorted the two terminals on the test connector, not to the ground(-). Try this link:

You are right. I wrote down the wrong terminal. You ground out Terminal "w" from the ECU to get the check engine light.Straight from the FSM. It is a check procedure for when you have no check engine light when key is turned to on position. According to the manual if you ground terminal "W" to the body and have a check engine light then you either have a bad ground or ECU.
