You can bolt IFS V6 calipers and LC vented rotors onto an 85 or older solid axle, resulting in better braking. It's that simple.

or you could spend less than 1/2 of that and get a set of 81-up landcruiser rotors at autozone and some 89 pickup v6 calipers and a master cylinder from a 94 4 runner v6 (they dont have 4cy in the runners after 89) without abs. good to go. the only thing that you might run into is the calipers may hit the wheel requiring a wheel spacer. mine were barely grazing my sheel so i hit the fins with my grinder to keep em from contacting the wheel. been fine for a few months now.

" less than 1/2 ", of what ?

I just told him about LC rotor/IFS calipers, and a larger MC is not necessary.

well, the question was about better brakes on an older pickup,

i simply was informing him that he can get the rotors for less than half the price of lc engineering's vented rotors by simply going to auto zone or any other parts counter and asking for 81-93 toyota landcruiser rotors. they are less than half the price and you can get them locally. 2nd the calipers from any ifs truck will work but the v6 calipers are bigger and will help you have "better brakes" 3rd the master cyl is not nescessary but once again he asked about "better brakes".the larger 1'' bore master cyl that all the companies such as marlin crawler , all pro off road and trail gear sell is nothing more than a 94 4 runner v6 without abs mc.

granted the prices for the mc are rediculous and thats why i got mine from my friend who is a beck arnley sales rep and gets parts at cost.the back arnley was the only one with the resivoir. for that id go with this one unless you can scrounge up a resivoir.

Now I get it.

When I said "LC rotors" it meant Land Cruiser, not LC Engineering.

As far as the MC (that's Master Cylinder, not Marlin Crawler  ), it isn't "required" for the V6 caliper upgrade. I run the stock 4 cyl MC with V6 caliper swap and the larger drum brakes on a swapped-in IFS rear axle. Stops my 36's just fine. Next brake up grade will be rear discs.

total lack of comunication, crazy as i work for a communications company....

i thought you meant expensive ass lc engineering... lol.. i was like dude why would you buy those?? the cross drilled rotors suck and clog up easy...

you definatly dont need the mc but it does help. i had a fairly new one on after my caliper swap, after i put the 4 runner mc (not marlin crawler) on my pedal felt way better and less spongy and it will lock up all 4 wheels with the lspv bypass removed and an adjustable valve i got from summit in its place. thats rear drums too. i would like to go disc eventually but its not really a priority and sure as hell aint cheap.
