My master cylinder is going bad, so I searched the forum for an upgrade. I have an 85 with stock brakes on 35's. one day will be 37's. I plan on keeping the stock axles and if I changed the rotors I would probably get the FJ rotors. So I have determined that the rockstomper GM master cylinder is larger than I need/want so I have settled on the FJ80 master cylinder. I also looked at Napa and found a remanufactured part for a good price, but now for my question: will I also need to find the reservoir from an FJ80 or will mine go onto the FJ80 M.C.??? and do I need the model that says for power brakes(4th from top) or would the "1st from top" do?? (ya there is a good price difference, both are non ABS). here is the link to the Master Cylinders:

i used a mc from a 94 non abs 4 runner , its the same one that marlin crawler and trail gear sell ... its the larger bore your looking for. you also need some ifs calipers, the ones i used were for an 89 v6 p/u.

where did you pick up your MC??
I was looking at the trail gear and marlin crawler site, and they seemed to have conflicting info about the IFS calipers. trail gear says that the better calipers are the 88-95 IFS calipers, and Marlin mentions that it is 86-95 IFS. If Marlin is right I have some calipers that my buddy will be getting rid of on his 86 runner when he does his SAS soon. (his new axle already has the upgrade) then I can get the Calipers, Vented Rotors, and MC all at the same time!!

i got all my stuff from beck arnley wordparts, my best friend hooks me up with a discount because hes the local sales rep for them.i got the loaded v6 calipers and the mc was from a 94 4 runner v6 without abs, thats all you should need.
you can get the mc at autozone, advanced discount auto, napa,or marlin and trail gear for twice the price. the calipers i used were from an 89 v6 p/u the 4 cyl ifs calipers are smaller than the v6 ones. you can use either one but the v6 ones will stop you better. the 4 cyl ones are better if you have wheels that are backspaced more and sometimes require a spacer . my wheels were barely grazing the fins on the v6 caliper so i shaved a little bit off the fin and it has been fine for a while now.
