is it too much to ask for my rebuilt motor is run correctly!!?! ever since the rebuild it has not ran to its full potential. PLEASE help me estimate how much this will run me, and wether or not new parts have to be installed.

1.) TPS sensor- not adjusted, causing my truck to run like poop, and get poor gas mpg. do i have to replace it or just get it adjusted?

2.) OIL SENDING UNIT- i think this is causing the small-medium oil leak that i have recently received. junk yard part or new? how much do oil sending units leak when they go out?

thanks, i learn a lot from this forum. and i'm really thankful of your time and input.

Dude, call the parts store, the Oil sender is like 10 bucks, barnd new, you cant go wrong there, just change it when you change your oil next (or at least drain the oil past the level of the sender.)
why do you think its the TPS? is the check engine light on? have you checked the timing? we keep going round and round with this one. If it runs like poo give us the symptoms all laid out nice and clear, what you HAVE done etc. Im sure someone can help out, its just understanding the problem, or am i just being a dork and you already posted on this and decided its the TPS?

John

thats for the TPS, if your SURE, prolly still got to adjust it:

Also, heres the sender:

BTW, i do not buy from theses guys, i just use them to base estimates off of. The Oil sender I bought from the local parts store here was 11.50 or some shirt. NEVER EVER re-use a part from the junkyard thats critical to engine performance, IMO. But it does sound resonable to get the TPS from the P&P, but as far as a 10$ sender v.s. 5$ @ the P&P, its not a hard choice.
Good luck.

im pretty sure its the tps. in the link you sent me yourself for the tps, it says symptoms of a bad tps (poor fuel, Varying idle speed, Hesitation while acceleratingm etc.) and my truck has all of those. in another thread, a guy had this same problem and was describing how the truck ran, and it was EXACTLY how mine runs today.

my question was, can i just adjust the one i've already got, or do they go "bad" and i need to replace.

also, will the oil sender stop my oil leak?

thanks for your time!

ok, took care of the oil sending unit. it was easy as it gets, and it made my oil light go away. but ill have to wait over night to see if it still leaks (hopefully not).

i disconnected my TPS and cleaned it really well. it ran perfect. but im sure itll start acting up again when it gets dirty, or vibrates loose.

toyota wants $119 for the TPS itself, and $139 for labor.

autozone has one for $89, and yes, it'll still need adjustment.

and i found my digital OHM gauge...good thing. lol

ok so i lied. the TPS started acting up on the way back from the grocery. it seems to only do it after being shut off for a short time.

lets hope im onto something lol

have you looked around the boards for one? might find one that was on a running car...or if a buddie has a 22re, try his one, see if it changes anything before dropping a chunk.
personally i just went through a BAD case of Mis-diagnosis, ended up dropping $300 bucks for misl. BS electrical stuff, turns out it was the t-belt(it wasnt broke, it was stripped, so when i put my hand under the cover, it was there, and had tension. and i even went through the trouble of pulling my plugs and checking each and every one for fire, i had fire so the t-belt was working, right? Wrong, this car (91 ford 1.9l) has a electronic ignition driven by a magnetic pulse off the crank pulley, OOPS.
Just had to share that, because of my lack of experience, and paitence (if i had taken the cover OFF, and checked the whole thing like i knew i should have) it would have saved me 120 for the ECU, 150 for the ECM, and 3 weeks down time waiting for the post office. All for what ended up being a 15$ belt.
HAve a look around the AFM and the TPS as well as the computer, look for any wires that could be loose or frayed, this could be your problem too.
Just take your time and do a good job. Good luck man.
aloha.
