View Full Version : rebuilt motor.smokes?

So I rebuilt my motor . bored 20 over new everything in the bottom end but I used the old head.It smoked bad before now it kinda smokes has like 2miles on it. any ideas.
Did you rebuild it, or someone else? Did you change the oil after 500 miles? There's alot of ? Did you do anything to the head, like seals?

i rebuilt it and ive only got like 2 miles on it.didnt do anything to the head.could it be buning oil that could be from before in the exausts

the valve seals have probably worn away (rubber part) and the valve guides might need to be replaced while ur at it. u can check the valve guides by turning the cam to were that valve has no pressure on it and if u can wiggle it, then u need to replace them. :grin:

the rings havent seated yet either, what kind of oil did you use? how bad is it smoking? your probabally just seeing the oil that was up in the cylinders burning off. you may have worn valve guide seals too but id bet it stops smoking after you properly break that engine in. search around for the proper procedures for break in. now if its alot of smoke id say that head is toast...
