Stupid Newb Question

Hi everyone, I just picked up a new 85 4runner(free), I want to upgrade the braking system, and been going through some of the threads, and Im wondering what are the advantages of the IFS calipers? Also what years of IFS calipers can I use and the same for the rotors. Any help is appreciated.

you want the ifs calipers from an 88 v6 bug any ifs calipers will work. the v6 calipers are bigger and stronger, if you use them you may need a spacer or you might have to slightly grind off the fins on the caliper so it doesnt hit the wheel. the 4cyl 86-95 calipers should fit without mods but arent as strong as far as stopping. personally i used the v6 calipers but the 4cyl ones are probabally fine.

the rotors are 81-up landcruiser rotors they are vented unlike your stockers

i upgraded to a master cyl from a 94 4 runner without abs also, its a larger bore master cyl, my truck stops on a dime now.

Theres no v6 calibers at pick n pull I was just there saturday. Theres only 2 86 4cyl runners and some crappy 2wd pickups with nothing left on them. just a heads up!
