I have a 85 extended cab with the title and ready to drive as a DD. The body is just hammered and windsheild smashed, doors barley close...blah blah. I also have an 86 extended with nice doors and perfect cab and no cracks in the windsheild. I don't have the title for the 86 but if I'm just going to strip it down I don't think I need one.

Here's the problem: can a guy switch cabs and be ok for plates and registration? Or should I also change out the VIN tags (put the 85 tag in the 86)?? This way the cab matches the title that I have. I could apply for abandon title on the 86 but that takes 60 days and as you all know No Toyota = No Fun. :dunno:

You could just switch the vin plates, but I do believe it is illegal to do so.

I did this on a Powerwagon, I had to take it to the Washington Highway Patrol and have them inspect it and they asigned a VIN to it.

Swap all 3 VIN tags and no one will ever know.
Yeah it's not legit, but it works.
