anyone used pacesetter headers before?
i have heard about them rusting out, anyone know of this?there is an optional ceramic coating available, what about that? they are only like 169, or 267(ceramic), i need/want a header, but i dont want to waste my time, and esp. my money. should i go with the more expensive tried and true?
thanks!

I have never had any experence with a Pacesetter header but I know a lot of people on this site have them so maybe they can tell you about them. Personally I think they are low quality. Header choice is important for what you want to do. It is dyno proven that a try-y designed headers increase torque and power. IMO, Downey makes the best tri-y headers. If top end power is what you want than look for a 4 into 1 header. Not sure but I think LC Engineering sells them maybe Doug Thorley. The downside to LC is $$$$, they are awfuly proud of their components and that's all I can really say. As far as I know TRD discontinued all their 22R/RE parts except for the Stage 1 cam (which is a waste of money) or else I could say good things about TRD. I think Downey is the best option for headers. As far as coating, the chrome finish looks cool (especially when it turns blue  ) but as far as performance, ceramic coating is the way to go and the reason is because the ceramic coating is an insulator that keeps the heat in the header causing exhaust gasses to move more rapidly increasing hp. The chrome plated header will loose more heat and slow down the exhaust flow. I like to use header wrapping because it insulates like a ceramic coating but also lowers the underhood temperature by a lot. I have an intake system on my truck on the exhaust side and cold air makes more power than hot air I have seen the header glow red more times than I care to think about and the header wrapping definantly helps to lower the underhood temp by a great deal. I think headers are a must for the 22RE, the stock manifold bolts always break and the manifolds crack under a lot of heat, headers are way more reliable. Here is a pic of my 4 into 1.

hooker headers also makes a header for the 22r/re as well, not shure on price though.

I've had a pacesetter on my 22re for about 2 years now and haven't had any problems with it, it gave me a little more low end but most power from it comes on about 3 grand and higher. i think i paid right around 120 for mine, i opted for the off road only version though

i got some, but the things say right on top of them that the paint isnt made for high heat so that kinda stupid. mabe if you sandblasted them and repainted them with a paint thats made for heat you wouldnt have that problem. but i got mine for 200 from this guy so for the price im happy for the price i dont think you can beat it...derek...

Well, from my personal experence with high temperature paint, it doesent work at all. I used to have an old Thorley header that I sand blasted and did a high quality paint job on with paint that was rated for 3500 degrees. I took it for a 3 minute drive and by the time I came back the paint was flaking off, I wasn't even that hard on the throttle :thumbdown If you live in Hawaii I would highly suggest that you do some fort of insulating wrap or coating on the header because the last time I was in Hawaii it rained a lot. If you are driving with a hot header and go through a puddle there is a good chance that the header will crack.
