there is a rattle it sounds like it is in the front of 22r. i know it is a single roller chain, is that a likely cause for the rattle

Sounds like you probably broke one of the plastic guides for the timing chain.

i took valve cover off and touched the chain and on the exaust side below sprocket it will move back and forth at least 1/2 an inch and it looks like on the same side i think guide is broke at the top. seems like it would be very noisy. does it really need to be replaced, if so i would probably want to make it a dual roller, where can i get a kit for it for cheap :help:

if you dont replace it it will leave you stranded with bent valves or worse it will get really expensive real fast

I had a timing chain skip a link one time, it ended up bending valves, and toasted the piston rings, in other words the motor went bye-bye. I would get it fixed.

i replaced my engine in my first yota because of the timing chain rattling loose and breaking :bluecryin

i just picked up a brand new cyl. head and my timing chain and upper end gasket set is coming tommarrow but for now i wont drive it , thanks for the advice. :rofl:
