i took my drive line to six states this week just got word back that they can
not shorten it i only needed 1.5 inches taken out of it.

so i get a call saying well we cant machine the tubed due to to much rust
on it. oh yah we also cant retube it due the the fact that yota used a metric
tubing so they have to build me a whole new one with joints and everything

which will run me 300 dollars. any help would be great in this matter.

i was looking at maybe spending 100 bucks at the most for a retubed drive

You might be able to find someone who has one with less rust or find one at a wrecking yard? Six States tends to be spendy too, there may be a driveline shop that could build you one for less.

I don't know about the rust, but every thing else is crap. Find a new shop.

Sounds like a ripoff. A welder doesn't care if it's metric or not. The tollerances would be so minute, that the welds would fill the gaps. They're just trying to sell you something you don't need. You could build your own driveline from square tubing.
