sucking sound

this may be stupid but is it normal to have a sucking sound ,like releasing a vaccuum when opening the gas cap?? it's a 22re. thanks, jeff 1940toyolet

The fuel system is under pressure. So when you open the cap it lets air out.

If it doesn't do it, then you have a problem.

There should be a sticker or some writing on the gas cap that says "CAUTION! Open slowly. Tank under pressure may cause fuel spray" or something to that effect.
