When you guys rebuild your motors what do you use threadlocker or antisieze on? I was always told to put threadlocker on headbolts, but the toyota, chilton, and haynes don't mention it.

use threadlock on all bolts, except your sparkplugs use antiseeze.

headbolts----clean any carbon build-up in the bolt threads....apply oil generously and assemble. I can't think of any part on the Yota engine that demands Loc-tite....but I can think of numerous places to use anti-sieze.

:devillook Use anti-seize compound on your exhaust studs! Oh yeah, the last guy is right about the head bolts, DO NOT USE THREADLOCKER ON HEAD BOLTS!! I have used a small bit of sealer on head bolts that protrude into water jackets, however I'm not sure if Toys have any like this. :devillook

Use anti seize on exhaust studs, spark plugs, thermostat bolts, any place you have a steel bolt going into aluminum it is a good idea. I wouldn't use anything on head bolts. The head bolts are steel bolts going into the cast iron block.

i had to use thread locker on my exhaust studs cause they kept coming loose even when i took it to the dealer for the proper torque specs and had them do it, i burned up four manifold gaskets before i decided to use loctite on them and the guy that bought the yota hasnt had them come loose yet

Flywheel bolts and flexplate bolts use locktite, rod and main caps are another place it isn't a bad idea, head bolts just flush the haed holes with air and remove the carbon, don't use locktite there, also it is a good pratice to change those bolts with a head swap they strech when first torqued, hence a retoque is required after 200 miles or so
