If im right ill be using rear springs from a 2nd gen.. My ? is will i need to move the spring hangers to do this. Also ? about the hole front and rear application will i need to change anything on my 85 4 runner to make these ideas work. Like brake lines pitman arm etc.... Thanks for any comments there all appreciated

You will need to redo the spring mounts if you use rears up front because they are longer. They move the axle two inches forward as well. Because of this you need to run crossover steering which requires getting an IFS steering box.

Thanks So does anyone no the proper location of the spring mounts on the front axle. I noticed you said it moves the axle two inches forward, would that mean you move the mount two inches forward.

The front mount stays the same. Because of where the center pin is on the springs the front axle is moved forward two inches.

I have a 3" spring for the rear up front. I needed longer shackles because the springs are longer, but this solved the problem (there is no need for new mounts). as far as moving the axle forward, it doesn't have to. on your axle itself are the spring perches. There is a hole for a center pin on one side and 3 different holes on the other. using the furthest forward hole on this perch and drilling a matching hole on the other will make it so your spring only gets moved about a half an inch. I think you could get by with that, or even get creative and fill in the existing hole with a weld and redrill both sides to keep your axle centered.

With that said the Crossover steering mod is a future must, especially when you start lifting higher and get more articulation, not to mention how much more solid it is.

Thanks ill keep that idea in mind as well

don't mean to screw up ur thread but what if i go crazy and get a lift kit for a chevy (4x4 and leaf springs all around). ppl talk about how they usally get 5 inchs of lift from the stock chevy springs but amagine if u got the lift for that truck and then put it on the yota. this prosess would take moving the hangers and leveling with shackles but i think i can pull it off.

It sort of loses the point when you could buy another lift for the toyota like marlins, all pro, or alcans for a similar price as a chevy lift. the great thing about the chevys is the price  plus I would imagine the chevy lift springs won't flex as well as the stock ones. If you were to do it I'd say get like a 2 or 3" that would get you up without using any blocks. the 5" you say is usually after a LONG shackle and possibly blocks.

Rears up front require more than most people anticipate.
1. Longer shackles (stocks will be on the frame),
2. long slip and extended driveline (I had mine extended and pulled out the dl on the first obstacle I tried. went back in and had a long slip put in it.)
3. bushings
4. crossover steering.
5. an extra pair of springs to mix in with the stock set
6. two new center pins
7. new bolts since your gonna want to cut off the old ones after you soak them in everything and have no luck. I just cut them off now and buy new ones.

I'm sure I'm missing something. Do it right the first time. It costs more to do a half job, and it sucks to be broke on the trail. The rears are not cheap in my opinion, but they are a very good lift. they will do wonders for fitting larger tires and approach. The chevys I am not as impressed with. great flex, but too long for me.

you really need to do crossover steering at the same time as the lift. Otherwise your gonna break your steering. It handles much better on the road too!

what i want to have on the 4runner is 47 LTBs so the lift will need to be monsterous, then i play in mud so the stiffness in the suspension doesnt bother me either its actally better for what it is going to have on it. a built 350 and TH400 tranny is going to be put in to it and 14 bolt front and rear with lockers. yall might think that it would take lots of money but the lifts that are made for toyota are more expensive then the chevy lifts. i can fab up alot but i just wanted to see what yall thought.
