I have a '82 longbed 4x4 with an interesting problem. While cruising thru a parking lot today I hit a speedbump really hard, and it had a lasting effect on my 'yota. I now can barely shift into 1st or 2nd gear, and the whole truck vibrates when I am sitting still. So I pulled off the surround for the stick and saw that the tranny looks to be sitting too much to one side.

So I looked under the truck and saw that this mount appeared to have a gap in it and the tranny looked to lean towards the drivers side.

Is this possibly my problem, seemed logical to me, until I pulled the mount off to tighten down the nut and it wouldn't budge. Tried searching for this one, but no luck. Hope this isn't a noob question. Any help would be great, as this is my daily driver and I need to work on Sunday. Thanks

+1, check the motor mounts. If the tranny is leaning like that then the engine is too. You probably broke a motor mount.

Bingo. I have money on the motor mount too. They do break over time. Checker or Autozone will have some for under $38 each. Not too hard to change either.

Oh and the sore on the inside of your hand comes from no shift knob.

www.rockstomper.com has some very stout motor mounts for $45. I'd go that route unless you can't wait a couple days.

Thanks guys for all of the replies. After looking at the T-case mount and realizing that it looks to be working as advertised, motor mount is next stop. O the shift knobs were just off to allow me to remove the shifter boot. Hopefully those HD mounts don't take too long to come in, because that is the way I'm going to go. Anybody have any experience with the V6 T-case mount. Does it offer a significant strength upgrade. Thanks again.

I have two used motor mounts, in good condition. I would sell for cheap. They came out of a Celica but they are the same part number as the motor mounts for my 83.

Go with stock mounts BUT chain them ..... its the best of both worlds. No vibes and there not going to strech and break
