OK first off i have an 85 4runner, I know what the future of my truck will be and that's to have a well built rock crawler... But to get there i need too much damn money lol... So my idea is to build allittle at a time when i get the right parts.. I'm trying to plan things around different things that way i don't have to do things twice costing me more money... For ref... like i dont want to put my 5" flex kit on until i get my Second trans.case so i wont run into changing drive shafts twice... That in mind here is my stumper for now i am at the point in funds where Ive got 33's on. And order lockers and winch this will help me get out on the trail and get some experience behind me. Don't really have much more money for anything else at this time... Since ive put the 33's on Ive ran into little rub bin so im trying to get that fixed with some cheap mods for now.. I put the 2" blocks in the rear to give it a little more space. I'm trying to fix the front now and cant seem to find anything cheap and easy to get me by... I only need about an inch or two more clearance to make things work... Things i know i can do are cut my finders or beat them in which i dont really wont to do at this point, and ive been told to get a longer hanger and longer shackles but dont really have the knowledge to do the fab work... So does anyone have some suggestions that i can do that just requires unbolting and bolting back on. And keep in mind i dont have alot of money for things and that this will just be temporary to get me out and playing. There is a couple of events coming up that id like to see but dont want to be stuck everywhere i go. Any suggestions will be helpful. :help:
put some longer shackles in the front to lift it and trim the fenders a bit.

i thought he said he didnt want to alter the fenders yet?why not just get an inexpensive body lift for right now?
ya
shackles to level out the blocks and 2 inch body lift work well too.

I run 35s with a homemade (hybrid) front pack that moves the axle forward about 2" (you'll definitely need cross over/high steer) and with a longer than stock shackle lifts it about 5"-6". With a little hammer work to the inner fenders and a 2" body lift, I can stuff them with no contact between tire and sheetmetal what so ever and it isn't all hacked up! I never thought I'd ever use a body lift but, there are a few advantages to them, they make more room for rock slider mounting and it makes getting the valve cover off for valve adjustments a breeze  .-----Hans

And with a body lift a rear bumper is alot easier to make on a 4runner

personally I would go with the shackles. You will want a longer shackle when you get better front springs anyways.
rocklogic cheap shackles (http://www.rocklogic4x4.com/store/index.php?action=item&id=156&prevaction=category&previd=7&prevstart=0) These are the cheapest shackle I've found. This will allow for rears up front later. Not sure if that is in your plans, but that's what I did...the second time around.

Even with a body lift you're tires will rub on the frame and springs. (at least mine did) It wasn't bad. But when the wheel was turned all the way to one side the tire lugs rubbed. Wheel spacers will take care of that. Or you can use an IFS rear axle (some 3 inches wider) and swap your front hubs for the IFS ones.
