so i think im ready to ditch the IFS...i have an 86' reg cab...but for some reason i think it might be an 85' with IFS and EFI...? were there some 85's with the IFS late in production? hmm...but yea anyways...i think im just gunna go for an SAS kit so i get the hy-steer and everything with it...cuz i got the IFS steering box. obviously. i was just wanting to know what kit ya'll sugest? i dont want the 4-link...yet...to complicated and i dont do alot of crawlin. i just need beef and decent flex for a DD/weekend worrior. so i seen SKy Manufacturing has a kit...for a decent price of about $1099. also the axel im hopefully getting is an 80's toyota. what gears should i run in both axels to run 33-35" tires?(havent decided yet) but still run on the roads. thanks for the help...im just trying to figure some things out first before i start. ill prolly start a build thread in the near future. thanks for any info boys!!!

Your truck was probably manufactored in 1985, but is a 1986 model year. The Sky kit would be a good choice, or the Marlin kit. I would go with 4:88 gears for 33-35 inch tires.

so what yall think bout the rear? doesnt it work out if you get like 4" springs for the front it ends up being like 5" with the shackles? hows that work? the is it the same for the rear long as you got the same length shackles? what springs you think would be good? thanks...just tryin to get everything sorted out from everyone thats done this before...

The Marlin springs are good for the front. You could get a set of Marlin springs for the rear too. If you lift the front five inches you will need to lift the rear 5 inches to even it out. You could get the SAS done on the front and then measure the rear to see how much lift you will need to even it out.

i think im gunna go with the marlin SAS kit. its around $1399. not too bad considering what some pay for newer truck lifts. so yea the rear kit is $649 from marlin...is that a decent price or you think i could get a better deal buying used springs and shackles and building the rear myself? i guess its just easier with a kit...or so it seems. thanx...

I would probably try to find some used springs, or do the 63" Chevy spring swap.

if you are any good at fabricating and welding you can make your own kit and save a lot of money, read around see what other people are using

yea i can fab some...i have a welder and tourches...so yea...my dad works at a metal shop...what all would need to be fabbed if i did that? i know the front spring hanger. but what about shackles? think it would be easier to buy them? then buy a high steer kit?

shackles are easy to make 2in by 3/8ths plate and design them how you please

I am running an old 3" rancho rear lift spring (probably 2-2.5" now) up front with shackles a little longer than stock otherwise they bottom out on the frame and I clear my 35's.

Matched on the rear is a chevy mod (all 4 leaves off a 4WD) with about a 3" block which sits me higher than the front

I just put in 5.29's w/ 35's and love them. my rig is a daily driver and I can finally use 5th gear again. I can cruise at 80 in 5th @ 3300 RPMs. If you are even considering going bigger than 33's get the 5.29's!!!
