I was wondering what would you guys recommend for a front locker..I have an 84 toyota pickup. 9 inches of lift 39.5 tsl 5.29 gears. I have a detroit trutrac in the back, and a lock right locker in the front which i believe i tore it apart this weekend. It never work right in the first place and the front doesn't even pull no more.I really don't think i broke an axle just because i hear a lot of good things about toyota axles.

with 39's i bet you broke an axle shaft. unless you have 30 spline chromolys.

if you did break the locker then i would always suggest a detroit if money is not an issue and you are looking for strength.

my friend has 36's and the lockright up front and no issues as of yet. if you set the front locker up maybe you didnt do it right and thats what caused the failure.

in my opinion you broke a birfield. but no way to find out until you pull the axles shafts.

this is the lockers i would get in order. arb, detroit, spool, weld, then aussie and lockright. unless you on a budget.

I think you should have had the locker in the back and the Trutrac up front but, that's just me  Seriously, lock up the rear and put some sort of (if you can afford it) selectable up front (ARB or transplanted Toyota e-locker). I have front and rear lockers in my early Bronco and sometimes hate it so, my '85 p/u got a TRD electric locker from a Tacoma up front (picked it up cheap off the internet, regeared it, did the housing and wiring mods ( http://67.122.16.97/carterman/4runner/mods/locker/ , http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/tech/electric_locker/ ) sold my old third and love it!------Hans

if it were me. i would weld another 3rd and throw it in the rear and put the rear trutrac up front.

I would do a arb. Very reliable, best locker you can get imo.

No one has ever broken a aussie locker, or atleast the havent reported it to the company, and if you do they will warrenty it. Great bang for the buck.

You will break 30 stock birfs before you would break a locker.

You have to pull all the shafts out to get to the locker anywase so youll know when you go to check it out.
