“You shall not murder.” This is a scripture in the bible in Exodus 20:13. Murder is the unlawful killing of one human by another human, especially with premeditated malice. Abortion is just that. A baby is a human, you are a human, and you plan to extract the fetus from the woman’s body with intent to make sure it does not live. If this isn’t murder, then what is? Abortion is morally wrong, it has negative physical and emotional effects on the mother, and abortion is murder. There is no excuse for abortion. People know the effects of sex, and should learn to be responsible. Whether or not the potential parents are physically, emotionally, or financially able to provide for the child, they should give it a chance. If parents are not ready in one of these mentioned ways, then adoption should be practiced. At least now the child has a chance to better itself. It wasn’t the child’s choice to be brought into this world; therefore he or she should not be punished by ending their life.
Abortion is morally wrong according to the Holy Bible. The Bible says it is wrong to murder. This statement also makes it wrong to have an abortion. Even if abortion was not murder and was legal, it still would be morally wrong according to the Bible. The Bible forbids us from shedding innocent blood. John Piper argues, ”Surely the blood of the unborn is as innocent as any blood that flows in the world.” Pope John Paul II restated the Catholic Church’s opinion in 1995 when he said, “all abortion is always sinful.” Not only Catholics disagree with abortion, almost all faiths look down upon this demeaning act. Most Muslims not only disagree with abortion, but they believe contraception is also unmoral. Orthodox Jews would also agree that abortion is sinful and should be prohibited.
