my 87 toy is sputtering when i take off in 1st , and it also chugs when im barely in the throtle at about 30 in 3rd and 40-45 in 4th.

i've retimed it , went thought the vac. lines and replaced some that looked old , i put a accel pump in it and a new fuel pump and filter today.

it still does it ,but ive noticed it acts up when its at operating temp.

the truck is carbed so could my carb be jacked up or maybe a temp senser or relay that goes to it...

i could really use some help on this one its my D.D.

Have you checked the pres. in your cyl's?? Could be a bad head gasket or burnt valves.. :bluecryin

Iv got an 86 and it sounds like I had the same problem, on mine it would only spit and sputter when you first take off when only depressing the throttle lever a bit. after that it would rev fine. Check to see that all the mechanisms on the carb are free moving, there was a lever that conects to the other side of the throtle shaft it runs off a cam. That was sticking and i wiggled it back and forth and freed it up. Now it works fine. I also added some graphite dry lube to it. I was told to never use oil or wd 40 because it will only work good until you get dirt and mud in there. Hope that is what your prob is.

ILL CHECK INTO THE CARB IDEA SOUNDS GOOD  IVE ALREADY SPRAYED THE WHOLE THING OFF WITH CARB CLEANER AND JIGGED SOME PARTS.

:redspotda THE MOTER IS NEW ONLY 1700 MILES SO I DONT THINK ITS IN THE HEAD OR VALVES. :redspotda

:thumbdown I FOUND THAT THE SMALL VAC. LINE THAT GOES TO THAT LITTLE TRAP DOOR IN THE AIR CLEANER WAS CRACKED FIXED THAT , IT TOOK CARE OF THE TAKE OFF SPUTTERING.

:dunno: BUT I STILL GET THE CHUGS! :dunno:
