i wana upgrade my yota a little bit, i wana lift it a couple more inches and put some 37.5 inch or 38 inch TSL swampers ( Not boggers )
Also wana run a aussie locker in the rear and keep the front open.
Would i be running into a lot of broken axels or would it stay strong
I forgot to say that the truck is a 1980 Toyota Pickup with a 4 speed tranny and a 20r engine.

Being open you shouldnt have too much problem with breaking them but it cant ever hurt to have a good one in there if you can afford it. If not, I would definitely have some spairs.

If you're going to be gettin on the throttle a lot or doing reverse digs, then you should probly look into upgrading the front

For $200 you can get some strong shafts 4340 chromoly....then save your cash and slowly upgrade to Strong birfs.

37.5?
I would upgrade the birfs before the shafts.
You WILL break birfs with that big of a tire. No doubts about it.

I know a few guys who ran 38's on stock shafts, they did MUD only. I dont think he had to much problems....You will figure out what you need when you break, it maybe painfull at times but you will figure it out.

Iv broke birfs with 31" tires on a 1 foot tall rock.
But iv also ran the con on 35s with stock birf w/ no break.
You never really know the condition that the birfield is in. I would suggest just getting some upgrades the frist time around, Birfields are the messiest trail fix out there.

Greese will be your best friend. Make sure you use about 3/4 of a tub of greese when you put them in.

I have broke birfields and longfields, but I have never broke an axle. I would upgrade the birfields. If you can always add axle shafts later if you break one. Your rear axle will probably be fine.

Those are awesome. You would probably never have a problem with that kit just doing trails.

Now, these photos may not look like much, but there was a 2 foot rock shelf half ways up (behind me in the last photo) this "Rocky Road". The grade was very steep and rocky. The trail would be rated "Moderate". It's a lot harder than mud.

What kind of trails are you going to be running? the kind above or like these trails (This place is in my town ) www.mixchallenge.info
You do not need to upgrade your rear axle, go IFS if you do. Its cheaper and youll get more width.
I think a set of Marfields from marlincrawler.com would do you just fine.

Just go with the gears. 4.56:1 or 5.29:1 (I'd choose 4.56:1 for a daily driver.)

4.88s for 35s 5.29s for anything larger.
