My 1987 Pickup has started to make a high pitch squeal from under the hood. I have checked the belt tensions and all seem OK. I first thought power steering, so I removed the belt and started the truck. Squeal still there. It almost sounds like it's coming from the back of the Engine. It does not do this all the time. But under acceleration is most often or when you gas it sitting in neutral. But the weird thing is, it does it just sitting at idle.

Sometimes even though belts are tight they are worn out and will squeal. It is pretty cheap to throw a couple new belts on.
