I'm thinking about getting one. I could use your comments; pro & con. I frequently wheel in Baja in very remote areas with only my vehicle. Seems like it could prove useful when no winch points are available. Thanks

Harbor Freight sells a 2000 lb. manual geared winch for $20 or a 12 volt 2000 lb. electric winch for $50. I don't know how well they work but for that price it may be worth a try.http://www.harborfreight.com/

We sold a few of them a while back... my old boss had one mounted on his cage that he used once or twice. I never got to see it in action but he said it held his giant truck just fine...(he had a FJ45 diesel..HEAVY)...

So I think they work...it is a way better idea then burying a spare tire... anyone ever tried that?

I felt like answering this post from the archives.... i made my own pull pal exactly the same as the real one. It works best in sand, it pulled me up a 20 degree slope real easy. in mud its a different story! I got stuck last year in a mud hole alone and about 40km from civilization. I tried winching to the closest tree but I unrooted it! The other trees were too far so I tried my anchor. The anchor dug a bit into the dirt road but it kept inching towards me. i was lucky though. i pressed hard on the gas, zig zagging the steering while winching!! I got out but I realized that the anchor is not a fail safe but it still helped me out... Im glad that I have it

With the exception of mud drags, I’ve never been more than 50feet from a tree with my hubs turned in. :p

Yes, They work great, and are a must have up here in interior AK where the trees are too small to be of any use.

just a thought being a sailor we use an anchor called a bruce that is designed almost the same as a pull pal except it does'nt fold. they are beefy as hell and you might be able to find one cheap. i've been wanting to swipe the one off my pop's boat to try it out but have'nt got around to it. so if you want to be the guinea pig..........

that's right!! I hate paying for stuff that I can build cheaper and usually better. I love to fab things...
It ticks me real bad when i have to pay for something that you can have from the U.S only... That pull pal would have cost about a grand to get here. 800$ for a power tank which i did for 400$ I had no choice for the power welder, it was on sale for 900$ U.S And I paid 1900$ I had to cross the border to save on taxes and shipping costs. the best deal in Canada for the welder was 2600$ just unreal!!!:angryfire.

Off I go again on a new anti theft project... a boot or a brake pedal lock. Ive got the switches covered...Im worried on tow trucks!:bye:
