whenever i paint a car with a spray gun i usually scuff the entire surface with 180 grit before applying primer, but with a spray i would just use a scotch-brite pad and dull the surfaces, then use a wax and grease remover from your local auto parts place and wipe it on with one cloth and off in another, don't rub it in wipe one way then wipe off in the same direction.

I would primer the whole bed of the truck and sand, block sand if you want it perfect, then spray with a gun. The more time you spend on your prep the better the paint job. And oh ya use a degreaser of some sort form you local Napa and whipe down before you paint, gets all the grease etc. off.

Yah, pics tonight! I am thinking of sanding my 84 down and spray painting it Desert Camo. I would be interested to see how priming the entire truck with rattle cans turned out.
BTW:
You would rather push your Toyota then ride in a peeJ???
or do you really mean.....
You would rather push your Toyota than ride in a peeJ?
