I just rebuilt my 22re in my 85 toy. I have read that you need to change the oil at 500 miles then at 3,000 miles. A friend told me to change the oil at 200 then 500 and also at 3,000 miles. after that change every 3,000 miles what mileage should I change at during the breakin process. I don't know wich one is right.

I personaly would do 500miles. but if it makes you feel better you can do it at 200 and then 500. you arent going hurt anything by changeing it more. just your wallet. But i have rebuilt more small block fords and chevys than i can count and have always just told them to do a oil change after 500 miles then 3000 after that.

i change oil at 100, 300, 500 and 3000. You can't change oil often enough. The first two changes, I use cheaper 10W-30 (Penzoil or Havoline), after that I use 10W-30 Castrol GTX or 10W-40 Castrol GTX, depending on the time of year.
