Ok here is the deal. I want to downsize my rig. I have a modified chevy d44 (passenger drop) front axle. long side is cut down to use a ford long side axle, short side Chevy, came from a 3/4 ton. (thicker axle tubes) outers have been changed from 8 to 6 lug. Warn Premium hubs. Beefier U-joints. Yukon 5:38 gears professionally set up about 2 years ago. Welded carrier. Toyota width spring perches. WMS is about 65" Not quite full width but it's wide! Has hysteer arms on both knuckles. New knuckle shims (about 6 months old) comes with tie rod with heim ends and draglink with one ton draglink ends. Both tie rod and drag link are HUGE. Von (rock logic) once told me it was almost overkill. has hydro assist mounted with a Howe 8" ram. Lets see what else....can't think of any thing.

The V6 third was set up by Rock logic with yukon 5:29's about 1.5 years ago. It's open diffed. (trade for 4:88 third)

I am testing the waters for now cause its still on my 91 toy. I would like to trade for a toy axle, with 4:88's and at least crossover steering. Hysteer would be better. I am going to downsize to 33's and dont need such a beefy axle or third member for now. WHY you ask? Well I hardly ever go wheeling anymore (no time) and I use my truck as my daily driver, Bigger tires = more money to replace, and not quite as good mileage. If I can't find a trade, then I might sell it Hence the post here in the for sale section.

i have a high pinon dana 44 that was narrowed the same witdth as a toy axle and has 4.88, a spool, hardened spicer u joints, and a high steer arm and stuff, if you want to consider a trade for your front end. i want to be wider!

did you notice the gear difference in your front and rear or was it completely fine?

what size tires did you run with this axle?

also how much do you want for your rear third?

That's a possibility but I'm not sure I want a spool right now. as you might know spools are not all that road friendly (snow driving etc)My wife is scared to drive my rig in the snow now. It gets too squirly. as far as the gears they are close enough for off road wheeling but I do notice a little difference when driving on snow then hitting patches of dry road. Most all guys that go with d44's and toy rears either use 4:88s or they mix ratios with the 5:38s and 5:29s they are close enough that it works well. Technically the rear is spinning tires faster than the front (barely!!) It works but I personally don't recomend it for regular street 4x4 driving. Now once again, Off road I never noticed anything and even down in moab the one time I went down with this setup i noticed nothing.

I am running 35" x-terrains with a 22re.

For the rear third I just need a 4:88 rear. either 4 or 6 cyl thirds would be fine. As long as it is set up correctly and is in good condition.

I also have wheel spacers for the rear axle bought them from marlin, they are 2" each adding 4" to your rear axle to match the width of the front.(or come real close.) I'll take $75 for them
