cat?
coil?
leaky exhaust.
distributor cap and rotor might help. spark plugs and wires . u might have a spark plug wire come off.
anything with the spark or fuel system i would say or maybe a vacuum leak.

Are you under mid to heavy throttle when it does it? This may have nothing to do with it but I had a car years ago that would do that, It ended up being the cam's had worn flat in a spot or two.
I would check the timing and the dizzy.
IIRC earlier 2F's have been known to get a crack right below the carb in the intake causing issues, But im unsure if your symptoms are the same...Just a thought.
Good luck

also just had my spark plugs replaced like a month a go..but should check again cause it is was running really rich. what would be the best timing for performance??..not emmissions.

I had a aftermarket fuel pump put in my cruiser once and it did not work. Find out more about the one they put in, you may still need a different fuel pump. or maybe not?

I agree with Venpick, could be the wrong fuel pump, is it OEM or aftermarket. When you replaced it did it look the same, or just a little different. I replaced mine, and although everything matched up (arm length, bolt pattern) it was the wrong pump, did about the same thing, would just stall out as I accelerated. Took that one off and it literally fell apart, got the right one in now and it runs great.

mine did the same thing. It ran exactly as it did with the bad fuel pump on it. Soon as put the oem on it ran perfectly.

ok so i posted "what the hell is this?" a long time ago, but i just thought that i would tell you all what it ended up being...the most obvious and miniscule thing...the fuel filter. when i had the fuel pump put in they said they checked the filter, but obviously they did not take it out and blow through it. so new fuel filter and its been beautiful ever since!
