Ok so I did some searching and could not find anyones feel in side to side. I am cntemplating which lift I want to buy for the 83. What do you all see as being the better lift for a mix of adventure/exploration wheeling and daily driving? I am comparing the 5 in All-pro offroad Extreme kit and the Marlin crawler 5 in terraflex kit. They both seem very close in features and price so I was just wondering what you all thought would be better. Oh and I am not looking to do a junk yard fab job so I really don't need to hear what the best junk yard spring sets are. Oh and are there any kits of similar funtion that I have missed? Thanks in advance guys.

Check out Trail-Gear, they also have a similar kit.
They're all about the same, but everyone has their preference of the 3 vendors.

You can't go wrong with any of those choices.

I think Trail-Gear actually supplies the other vendors and recently began selling under their own name.
marlin makes his springs himself..... he use to buy them from them but now he manufactures them himself... big argument on pirate about it.
my preference is marlin. better kit in my opinion.
friend bought allpoop and its a stiff mofo like skyjacker.

i would say alcans and if you can afford it and have patience, get the aor orbit eyes those are the sickest, best flexing leafsprings
if i would have started all over i for sure would have got these
but i have a junkyard lift with toy rears in front and 63 chevys in the rear and it flexes plenty good for me, better than all pro anyways

You cant go wrong with any of those springs ..............
But theres aot more to it than the springs....... lockers, X-over steering, sliders & bumpers...... dont forget a winch

allpro and marlin's used to be the same, until the manufacturer stopped, and allpro started getting the springs made in mexico. Coming from mexico, the springs would vary in their stiffness, quite a bit as I"m to understand. A friend of mine bought the all pro kit and he has not much more flex than stock.
Anyways marlin didn't want that so he started having them manufactured in the good ole US of A
Trail Gear is a company started by one of the guy's who worked for marlin, I think the springs just might be the same as marlin's but I'm not 100% sure on that, the marlin kit's got everything you need in a box for suspension, cept an IFS steering box.
from what I hear, aor has the best springs but there's a long wait to get them and they're very high dollar

NOT ..............
Theres a bunch of Drama between those 3 companys thats for sure :spanka:
It does take awhile for springs to break in so you can judge the amount of lift or flex when springs are brand new.
Right now Trail gear has FREE shipping on there orders and the cheapest price on SAS kits :devillook

Thanks man!
Wonder why it wouldn't come up with a googlin'????
Fukin' A that looks just like the format on Marlins site before the recent rework. :devillook It's got to be an old Marlin employee, like their old webmaster or something.
Edit: Now it makes sense, That logo matches C. Geigers new avatar on Pirate.
I'll go Marlin as in the past and stick with the "original". Thanks again for the link. As you can probably tell, I don't get out from under my rock much. I guess the company that was goina buy out Marlin backed out and hired Geiger on then. hmmmm?

I made my living for over 10 years being a factory Rep and I've seen that way to many times. Honeywell for example....Let's you build a customer up to the point that most of that customers business's products depend on the products from Honeywell then they take that account on as an "OEM" and cut you, the person that built the relationship with what is now "their" customer, totally out of the picture.
TrailSmear may get my money indirectly but it'll always be from Marlin. He has been a true innovator in our Yoat world. Plus, they are some of the best peeps to deal with. I've personally never had an issue and have had them go above and beyond and sell me parts they don't normally sell just to get me out of a bind.

So now that I had a chance to look I have to know, does anyone here actually own the trail gear lift? It seems like they are going to be the ones to get my money but it all depends as I am about to send off a few e-mails to see what each of the manufaturers has to say. Thanks again guys. As of now the standings go as
1)Trail Grear (Cheapest and with everyone saying they make a good part of the stuff for the others I don't expect that there would be much difference in quality)
2)Marlin (hey it MARLIN, if the price were the same I would be all over it)
3)All-pro (with the iffy mexican springs I just can't see spending my money there)

Of the companies mentioned, I say go with Marlin, quality products and you couldn't deal with nicer, more honest people. The whole Chris Geiger bailing on Marlin and defecting to Trail Gear makes me wonder what REALLY happened at All Pro now. Even if I have to pay a little more for Marlin's stuff, it's worth it to me to support them and insure their continued existence. Rumor has it (don't know how true it is) that Trail Gear setting up their business in the same town as Marlin (Fresno) is out to put Marlin out of business..........Hans
I just replaced my Allpro springs with Trail Gear's and man what a difference. I would definetly recommend Trail Gear.
