14 bolt and dana 60(and 70)

which is a drop out, or can either be a drop out? can they all be non floating, semi or full floating? which is stronger? pics would help a lot

can there be a 14 bolt front end (never heard of it)

what is a dana 70 compared to a dana 60 (same carrier, bigger shafts and housing?)

thanx guys i just want to know what im shopping for

i could make you a cutom front 14 bolt if you want it. youll need to buy the d60 front knuckls and what not and d60 shafts and well.

d60 front is a bit easier and its a lot better for clearance.

d60 front d60 rear makes it so much easier.

d60 front d60 rear with a detroit 35 spline if you can find it or upgrade to it.

If you are looking for strength go with the 14 bolt or 70. I believe that both of these are 35 sspline. If you get a 60 make sure that it is a 35 spline. If it is the smaller one then it is not much of an upgrade over a 44. This is just of the top of my head so this might be a little off but here it goes. None of these are drop outs. A 9 inch is but it has 31 spline shafts. There are 2 big differences in 60s, one is 31 spine and 1 is 35 spline. I believe that all of the 35 spline axles are full floating. Maybe this helps. If I am off on some of these maybe some one will clarify.

Most rear 60 FF's are only 31 spline. You have to get stuff out of motor homes, vans, etc to get 35 spline. J Trucks (Full Size Jeep) had 35 spline semi floating rear 60's for a while. I know they were offset though or at least the one i had was.

Rear end: Do a dana 70 or a 14 bolt( SHAVE IT) i did mine and gained over an inch with a sawzall.

Front 60: If your gonna run lockouts stay with 31 spline shafts. Most people running 35 spline tips can't keep lockouts so they run drive flanges.

Hope this helps.
