I was woundering what is better for a daily driver detroit truetrac or detroit softlocker?

They seem very similar. It sounds like the trutrac may be slightly better in a daily driver. The softlocker seems like it would be better for off road. I think I would go with the softlocker, good daily driver performance and off road.

I've had both a Lock-rite and D/L in my early Bronco.....the Lock-rite was horrible at best, the D/L is almost invisible. I have a Lock-rite in my daily driven '85 p/u and it kinda sucks but, it was cheap and works good offroad :rolleyes: If you want traction, get the locker (Detroit). They're not that bad on pavement and after a while, you won't even notice it .......Hans

i got a trutrac in my 91 daily driver and i like it alot. i dont even notice that i have a locker in the rear on the street but when i go wheeling the tracticion is all ways there as long as i have just a little bite of torque in the back wheeles. but yeah its held up to

I had a lock rite in my old Nissan. It was noisy, and would jerk and snap at times. But it worked well off road. I have heard so many horror stories about lock-rites I am kind of glad I sold it before I had big problems.

i got a trutrac in my 91 daily driver and i like it alot. i dont even notice that i have a locker in the rear on the street but when i go wheeling the tracticion is all ways there as long as i have just a little bite of torque in the back wheeles. but yeah its held up toThe Trutrac is a very good unit but, it is NOT a locker, it's classified as a limited slip, it'll still allows some torque bias where as a Detroit locker will act as a spool when one wheel loses traction......big difference.........Hans
