I've been dealing with motor issues since I got my new motor in, I was talking about going to the BAR because of the mechanic kept messing it up.

Last time it was there, I had horrible vibration when I drove it home, they said the vibration was caused by 3 nuts missing from my u-bolt (which they could have been I guess, but I HIGHLY doubt it) and it was dumping out gear oil, they didn't install the spedo gear assembly and oil leaked out of there, then they said it wasn't their fault and the t-case gasket was leaking, I chainged the t-case gasket and all the seals and took it for a test drive. Drove Ok, so I took it for a long drive.

Vibration came back after 20 miles really badly, then I started pissing out motor oil from the back of the motor. I thought it was the rear main seal, today I inspected it and was horribly wrong....

my ****************ing block is BROKEN it looks like they torqued down the tranny WAY too much, there's like a 1 mm crack going from the side of the tranny on both sides of the block, this sucks....

I guess its time to talk to the bar...

Yep, I had the same problem. I was managing a shop here in provo and one of my guys kept using his SNAP-ON impact gun (650ft-lbs+) to tighten everything down. He "snugged down" a $180 motor mount and broke a 3/4" grade 5 bolt after the motor mount started to collapse.... I had a good talk with him and the owner made him take it out of his paycheck(illegal I think) and he quit doing that. Having seen that mount, I can easily see how a grade 8 bolt could break your block's casting. Check what kind of impact gun he has access to. I guarantee that's what he did.

First of all they shouldnt be using an impact gun for that they should be using a torque wrench!

I couldn't agree more. That's one of the main problems with paying a technician by the job than by the hour: they hurry through so they make more money and air tools are always faster than hand tools. For the last few threads of a bolt, it should be tightened with a torque wrench, but for the other 10+, only a hourly tech would use hand tools, and many of them want to use the impact gun anyways.

if air tools are used right the work great.

turn them down so your under the torque spec then use the torque wrench
im a flat rate tech and have never made a mistake like that.

for wheels for instance i put my gun at half speed and tighten the lugs up then its time for the torque wrench to come out.

i would defently get on the ass for it.
time for another engine at the expense.
