View Full Version : SR5 Cluster Swap - Non-functioning Temp guage...

So I've done a number of SR5 guage swaps, using numerous different clusters from different years. I am using known good clusters... I have never been successful with getting the temperature guage to work all of the time. They always work very intermittently, and usually not at all. Occasionally if you bump the dash really hard they will work. I have read on one of the boards in the past, where if you run a "new" ground wire from the ground on the back of the cluster to a clean body ground, that the problem will go away... It has not worked for me. Does anyone have any solutions? Has anyone had this problem on the SR5 swap, and then fixed it? If so, EXACTLY how did you fix it? An additional ground wire? This is more of an annoyance than anything - but could be dangerous some day if I ever start to overheat at the same time that the guage is not working... I've swapped the Non-SR5 clusters back in to test the Temp guage, and they work just fine. Swap the SR5 back in, and it doesn't. I've tried 3 different Sr5 clusters, and all three temp guages work intermittently.

Thanks,
Ken

sounds like thre might be a short in the cluster? When you had the non sr5 cluster in did you slap the dash board ot see if it stopped working?

That's a really wierd problem....

you said you've had it before too?
