If it's a v6 manual with a 31" tire option it is safe to assume it had 4.56's.
I would check your drivers side inner panel it should be a gxxx number.
That tells you the gear ratio example if the code is g254 basically g = 8 " rear 25 = 4.56 ratio and 4= 4 cross pin rear.

They're right. In order to know the ratio you need to know what motor, what trans, and what size tires came on it stock. They had 3 different "stock" ratios in those years.

im assuming it came with 31's because when i bought it thats what it had on it , yea its stick and a 3.0 v6 so ill check the side pannel.. another question however so as i understand it the higher the number the lower the gearing? so for 33's what would the suggested gearing be?

4:56 would be good for 33's. A friend of mine ran 35's with 4:56's, 5 speed, and 3.0 in his runner.

If it came with the 31s then it should have 4.56s as said, which would mean that 4.88s would keep it as close to stock as possible (the speedometer wouldn't need to be corrected) with 33s.

Are you daily driving this thing or is it a trail rig. If you only went from 31's to 33's... why worry about it?

i would like for it to have enough power offroad, but i do need it to get to and from school, also im planning a road trip up to oregon soon and would like to drive it up there but also around some trails.

yea also i checked the side pannel it said g254 so my ratio is 4.56 like you said, so that should be enough for 33's right?

Get the 33's and don't worry about gearing.
There's plenty of people running 33's with the 4 cyl/5 spd/4.10 combo, so with a 3.0 and 4.56's you're already to go.
