got a 95' runner and just recently did a v8 swap. I'm looking for a vacuum switching valve to controll the front diff. not sure if anyone has had the same problem or not but I want the 4wd to work. I'm realy looking for something electric so I don't have to get out and turn a vacuum valve outside the truck. need 1 imput, two outputs. something to switch vacuum back and forth to the two outputs. anybody know of any thing like that or suggestions let me know.- thanks

i had a 77 cherokee that had the quadra track. it had a vacuum valve in the glove box to controll the transfer case lock up. works with small vacuum line that would be easy to run where ever you want it

but do you understand how it works?? Like i have a rough idea, it uses engine vaccum to keep the front axle unlocked then it usees a switch or relay in the transfer case to add vaccum to the other side of the line that locks it. But i don't know how i would have a valve or something to control this if i am use a completley different transfer case then the toyota one

Why don't you use the vacuum solenoids that came with your vehicle. They have a electrical signal that opens and closes them. Just ground one ends and add a hot lead to the other from a switch on the dash. The soleniods were located in the middle of the passenger fender engine compartment. Or you can get the axle stub from a 1986-1989 truck or 4runner that had ifs, they did not have the adds yet. I know for sure on 1988 4 runner that is what I had before my solid axle swap. Then it is solid axle shafts to the CV's on both sides.

thanks you, i will look into that more. That is what i was wondering. I didn't know it was triggerd electrically. I thought the vaccum was trigger somehow from the transfer case not being electrically. So i could use a toggel switch somehow then?? What wires do i tap into then?

anymore advice on this topic at all?? I am just about to get into the swap and haven't found out all that much about the ADD system so far as to how i can keep it with a transfer case swap like i am doing

AFAIK the system uses the same switch on the t-case that lights the 4WD indicator on the dash to control the vacum motors that work the ADD (how simple can you get).

A toggle switch on the dash would take care of that.

It took seconds to find this (http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/tech/add/) and this (http://toyota.off-road.com/toyota/article/articleDetail.jsp?id=399612)

Y'all really should learn how to work the internet better, GOOGLE is your friend.

I have seen both of those site, however they don't really get into the wiring behind it, Just the vaccum hoses and solenoids. But i think i discovered which wires i am gonna tap into for the toggle switch.
