will a bed off a 81 yota fit an 86

hi i came across a 81 bed thats in decent shape will it bolt directly onto my 86? i dont want to spend the money for a bed that wont bolt up, i am not worried about body lines etc, just the mounting.

It should, I have a 2nd gen 2WD bed on my 1st gen 4wd frame.

i'm sure you could make ANYTHING work, if you wanted (I just came across an '83 with a late-80s Nissan (yuk!) bed), but if you are looking to keep a relatively factory look, the answer is no. And you'd end up with square fender openings in the front, and round at the rear. Why? But besides the appearance, 84 and up were wider than the 79-83s.

A relatively good '81 bed in Iowa? If I were you (or closer), I'd buy it myself and resell it for a decent profit. They are hard enough to find any more in the "sunshine" states!

If you read his post, he said he isn't concerned with appearance.
He wants something that will bolt right up, this will.
