Factory Tach

Hey, is it possible to put a stock dash cluster w/tach in a 89 pickup 4cyl 4wd w/o tach, what all is needed to be done. I was rummaging through a junkyard and saw a truck with a tach, I dont know what engine was in it and I think it was a 88 2wd 4cyl though. It was 5spd just like mine. Is it possible to get the mileage in that one to match mine?? mine has 130k and it had like 223k?

The dash changed on the pickup in 89, so I doubt it would work. I know on the 85-88 trucks and 85-89 4Runners all it takes is a different oil sending unit. It is also hit and miss on if you need to run a tach line. The 89+ trucks I'm not real familiar with though.
