I have a 88 toyota pickup that will not charge the battery, the battery light is always on, the motor will stop when the battery cables are removed. I have
no warning lights when I turn the key on. I have replace the alternator, battery and battery cables.

Please help

defective alternator. i would pull the alt. and have it tested. or go to a autoparts store and have them test your system

could be your voltage regulator. Had the same problem. I took mine apart to see what it looked like inside. I turned on my truck with the regulator cover off. With a paperclip I jumped (wedge) it in their. Not sure if that was stupid. But, after messing with it. I found out that was the problem. They can get pricey for different years. Sorry, I don't have pics. And yes I did have to replace it. The paperclip was just for jumping it and seeing if the volt. light would turn off in the dash.
Good luck. Autozone can check your alt. for free. They can even do that while it is in your truck.(in truck- it the engine does need to be on)

Autzone or another parts store should be able to test the voltage regulator as well.
