if i recall right, pirate faq says move the hangers 4" back, and run a 6" shackle for the chevys. I went 3" and 7.25" (84-88) and think that the 4 and 6 would probably be better, but then i wouldn't be able to get to one of the bed mount bolts

The best shackel angle that you can have when installing long springs capable of a lot of articulation is to have the sheckel sit straight up and down vertically while the vehicle is in the air and the springs are at their full droop. Springs get longer as they travel up so it is important to make a shackel that is long enough to swing enough to accomidate the springs getting longer as the springs articulate. On my 62's I had to use a 10" shackel but I plan on running the shackel mount through the frame rails instead of undernieth the frame rails. I'll need to make a 12" shackel then to save some height. The spring won't get any longer than when it is laying flat that is where you can figure out how long your shackel needs to be, but I would definantly put them straight up and vertical when it is at full droop.
