Hi all!
Well, im am the proud new owner of a 96 lx450. For about the last three years i've been looking for a 96-97 80 series and was luck enough to find this on a used lot here in town. I couldn't belive the shape this thing was in. Well, maybe i can considering it was probably driven to the country club once everyday by someone who wasnt sure what that little shifty knob in the middle or the funny little rotating switch to the left of the steering wheel was for. Anyhow, i love this truck. I've been off roading in my old truck (98 montero sport) for the last 6 years and had some some very extensive mods to it and now im ready to get started on this dream truck of mine. First things first, i moved all my off road/survival gear into my new truck and now im lost as to how to get it all to fit. My montero had a subfloor that i had built in the cargo area that all my stuff fit under and i still had access to a nice flat surface on top. One reason i bought the new truck is the 7 passenger seating so i dont want to take out the jumps.

I'm wondering about how everyone else is storing/organizing all of the crap that i know we all carry in our trucks on a daily basis. Picts are worth a thousand words, but i'll take a thousand words too.

Cant wait to get to know you guys and see how everyone does things around here in Toyota land.

I can not think of a way to store a large amount of equipment in a orderly fashion without comprimising the use of all 7 seats other than a roof rack or trailer. For the times you are not utilizing the jump seats I would use a box or drawer system that can be easily removed for the need of the jump seats. For the instances when you need all 7 seats I would utilize the roof rack (with not much weight on top on the trail). Or maybe a swing out carrier on the back that attatches to the bumper or the hitch that would be able to hold such items as a cooler, jack, tools, etc.

how are the rear jump seats removed?

There is a hinge where they fold up aginst the side, Some fabric is covering it witha snap or velcro, There is a little latch you push on and it will release the seat, Slide it forward and lift...But watch your fingers the first time, I smashed mine.
It leaves a small metal frame work on the fender wells, Its a good place to lash things down with, So are the 4 under the rear carpet.
I will post up a pic or 2 if needed, My wife is running errands in nthe 80 :1shifty:
Good luck
