4.22.05 - MB QUART Reference Line Speaker Upgrade

Looking for a simple and decent audio upgrade for your E39?  Sure you are because OEM BMW speakers are for the birds!  Simply purchase a set of MB QUART RSD 213 component speakers for the fronts, and a set of MB QUART RKC 113 for the rear deck and you will be in business!  The highs and mids are finally back to where I can enjoy the music!  A nice simple mod for under $250!

4.21.05 - Hella XENON Angel Eye Headlights and Hella Celis rear light

After two very long months of dealing with broken merchandise and UPS, my lights finally arrived!  All I can say is, if you can afford the costly price of them, DO IT and DO IT NOW!  Genuine Hella lamps are simply outstanding!

4.17.05 - UUC EVO 3 Short Shifter -

I was lucky enough to find a brand new UUC EVO 3 Short Shifter on Ebay for my vehicle.  After saving $150 off retail, the short shifter came and I installed it at once.  WOW, what an amazing difference!  The shift throws are drastically reduced and the feeling is just outstanding!  No more loose, floppy, shifter!  This will simply be the best $350 you will ever spend on your car! Period!

3.15.05 - Interior Storage Upgrades -

The E39 series body style is lacking in some storage compartments here and there.  There are a couple pieces of interior that one may purchase through BMW that allows for a little more storage.  The first is the Armrest Compartment.  I found a nice leather one used, but it replaces the center armrest (non-compartment) with that of a armrest that opens to a compartment.  The swap is simple and takes only minutes.  It's not huge, but never the less, a great enhancement and it also rids your interior of that stock phone tray.  Parts can range to $400, that is why I found one used.

The second item I purchase from BMW is the rear side (battery compartment) cover.  This piece simply replaces your stock battery cover with one that has a tray in it.  A nice little tray to hold CD's or golf tees.  BMW Part number 51 47 8 159 478.  It's about $40.

2.20.05 - BMW Aerodynamic Front Spoiler

The BMW Aerodynamic spoiler was purchased through Pacific BMW and painted by a friend.  The spoiler is less than $300 and adds a tremendous amount of flair to the front end.

2.13.05 - M5 Brake Duct Modification

I set out on a journey to the local hardware store to make a set of the M5 brake duct rings.  Check out the HOW-TO HERE

2.12.05 - M5 Rear Trunk Lip

A M5 style trunk lip was added.  This is a quick, easy, and cheap modification.  It came pre-painted and the color tone matched to a tee on my Arctic Silver E39.

BMW front plate delete strip.  Self explanatory.

2.4.05 - BMW M5 Grill

This is a great upgrade that takes less than 15 minutes.  I ordered the M5 Grill from Pacific BMW.  For $54, I received both left and right kidney's and did the transplant.  As you can see, the M5 grill is much bolder.

2.3.05 - Ultimate Cup Holders & Clear Side Markers

On this date, I received my award winning (and the most expensive)  cup holders one can buy.  I discovered quickly the OEM cup holders in the E39 BMW's are worthless.  Thanks to my cat-like ninja reflexes, I was able to put a grasp on a couple mugs of coffee in mid air while driving.  I ordered the cup holders from www.ultimatecupholders.com and received them just a few days later.  Nice quality, hope they keep the coffee in one place.   $50 for the pair.

I also installed some BMW clear side marker lamps.  This is the first, and least expensive, step to upgrading all the lighting to the euro OEM BMW look. The side markers were less than $20 at your local BMW dealer.

1.25.05 - Floor Mats

As part of the DINAN signature package, a set of DINAN floor mats are included.  The DINAN mats are made by Lloyd Mats.  I decided that I really did not care for the high cut of the carpet made by Lloyd.  It reminded me of 70's shag baby.    Lloyd's make good mats, but you simply cannot beat the quality, cut, and pile of the OEM BMW mats.  So that's the route I went.  Roughly $120 at the dealer.

1.20.05 - Window Tint

On this date I had the windows in the DINAN 5 tinted.  I returned to the place that has done at least 5 of my other vehicles, AUTO RAGE in West Valley City.  This time, we had a little problem.  I specifically told  them I did NOT want LIMO on the back.  When I came to pick up the car, they had placed LIMO (5%) tint the back but before I had a chance to blow up, they new they made the mistake and agreed to fix it.  But that would be a week later.   Never the less, I am happy now.  The 50% shade on the front sides and 35% on the rears was the look I was shooting for.
