The canvas army top that I have made for my project truck is a simple cheap idea.  True this top is not as nice and tight as a Can-Back topper but the price is a lot more realistic.

I started out with the canvas.  I went to the local Army/Navy surplus store and found a perfect army treated canvas in a 6x8 size.  This is a perfect size for the Toyota bed and no trimming of the army tarp was necessary.

I went to the local metal shop and gathered a couple tubes of 3/4 tubing.  Once home, I broke out the pipe bender and made the ribs of the topper. After welding the ribs in place, the canvas was laid over it.  Once I placed the canvas over the ribs perfectly, I began inserting snaps into the bed rail and into the canvas.  The ends have a tension loop in it and rope has inserted in these loops to hold the ends where they need to be.

Cost $ 30.00
